History’s shown that targeting a group’s allies is a critical step towards an even greater momentum of hatred against a group, the kinds of which lead to abortion clinic bombings, rape as an act of war, fascism & Nazis. Calling it a canary in the coal mine’s reserved for initial acts of violence & the unmatched epidemic of #violence against #trans #women of color screams the danger much more like a banshee.

My daughter’s best friend (both 13) is over and we got to talking about when they were younger and she locked him out of the house until he answered a Harry Potter question.

He hadn’t read the book so it was particularly evil.

She asked “Who does Harry marry?”

He asked for a clue, and she said it’s a girl.

He got angry and said that’s mean- to call Harry gay.

My daughter was confused about why he thought it was mean.

I reached out to a gay club in request for a "community support," I was invited to a bar to meet with the club head. To cut the long story short, they aren't gay. They are a group of jobless folks. All they do is target the LGBTQ+ community and try to talk them into becoming straight and all. All they did was tell me and show me from different books that I'm wrong for being gay.
All I told them and showed them from my middle finger was, "Fuck you."

It’s always weird when my kids friends call me. A few have my number and I’ve told them if they’re in trouble I’ll pick them up no questions asked

My kids friend called to ask if I’m her mom and tell me she’s gay-again

I said of course I’m your mom you’re platonically married to my daughter. Praised her for her courage coming out and promised to congratulate her every time she chooses to come out in the future

She was happy when she called so I’ve got no idea what prompted it

My mother is mostly aware of her biases and supports interracial marriage herself, her parents didnt, but every once in a while she feels the need to defend her racist family

My brother grew up in a more progressive family/friend group but constantly defends his friends as not racist/homophobic/transphobic when what he really means he they don’t know/think they are.

5 day trip visiting family, making sure no one pressures my kid to visit her grandfather.
