It’s an oral history so quick to read and gives the clearest examples I’ve read recently about how the State was conspiring against the miners as well as gay history. i think i have all the #valheim worlds and #LGSM configs backing up to rsync.net with #borgbackup, but we won't know for sure until the cronjob runs tonight.

#LGSM can handle backups itself, but it archives the entire ~, and i don't think it handles multiple servers cleanly. i think i can hack together a nice script that shuts down anything that needs to be shut down, backs up just the relevant bits, and restarts as appropriate. we'll see.

after some initial futzing and nonsense, SUCCESS

i was trying to rename the #valheim world to match the #LGSM convention (e.g. vhserver-N), which is normally fine, you get out the ol' hex editor and go to town, but i kept loading into absolutely the wrong stone circle. finally realized that you don't actually have to rename the world; you can specify the name in the LGSM config file for that world. so much easier.

it's also possible that i was breaking the encoding someplace by scp-ing bzipped archives created on windows. i used regular zip for the un-renamed attempt. so i changed two things and now we'll never know what made the difference. i'm a professional.
