I have been doing a reread of the #liaden universe (at least the main story line from Agent of Change on) and have now reached the most recent release 'Salvage Right'. @Edelruth @mrawdon Have you tried the #Liaden Universe series by Sharon Lee and Steve Miller? (I found out about them via a Bujold mailing list). First and another good entry point are in the Baen Free Library but Sharon says people can start wherever really. Some bits just make a bit more sense if you've read the ones chronologically before. But not necessary.

Miri Robertson is an ex-mercenary who gets caught up with Val Con yos'Phelium, Nadelm Korval. Definite action, political intrigue check, M/F romance, some life philosophy, spaceships, not castles per se (in this book) but sentient turtles.

My favorite newish author is #NKJemisin.

I recommend to everyone The Elements of Style, written by #WilliamStrunk. It focused my prose at home and work. The Kindle edition's formatting is unusable.
