Went to one of our wonderful #ACT library branches here in Canberra and discovered all our libraries here are on Libby. So now signed up and ready to go.

My use will be audible and ebooks as mobility issues make visiting and book carrying difficult. So thrilled at knowing about Libby, thanks to Mastodon.

Here we are very fortunate, our public libraries are free to use and we can borrow any book.They also have lovely children's corners for borrowing, just reading or storytimes.
Adult classes or activities, computers and assistance is always available, patient and kind.

@futzle was it the quality of the journalism or a protest vote? I read New Scientist for free on the #LibbyApp through my local library… these days, not as good a read, admittedly. But free.

I borrow Cooks Illustrated through the #LibbyApp using my #library card, it’s a good read.

Today’s #BroochOfTheDay is another from Tasha at #JublyUmph, from her recently released Bookish Animals series. Since the pandemic started I’ve been reading a lot of #AudioBooks. I started because I couldn’t use the local #library when lockdowns were happening, and then discovered I enjoyed the format. And with the #LibbyApp and #Borrowbox, there are often titles available I can’t access otherwise.

@DrLiz @Digital_Archivist The only magazines I read now are through the #LibbyApp through my town library. Far too expensive to buy magazines these days.

@TheCritterPup @Inge @bookstodon I read a lot on audio, because the #LibbyApp through my town library has a lot of books that way that I can’t access otherwise - and also, I use audiobooks to help fall asleep.

Very glad of the #LibbyApp and #AudioBooks from my #LocalLibrary tonight. (And as if that wasn't enough hashtags, sorry) I'm listening to #AustralianFiction which ties in nicely with my #FamilyHistory research ...🤣

@Aaron listening to the audiobook from my local library via #LibbyApp ☺️ this is not a genre I usually venture into. But it’s so popular, I was curious. It’s been great! Definitely the kind of film I’d watch, so why not book?

Whelp, I can’t buy the #ShadowandBone trilogy for the #LibbyApp with the second season coming in March because Amazon snapped up the rights and made them Audible Exclusives. Which means #libraries can’t buy them. Sorry patrons!

@jbb i should warn you I could talk about this all day. We created an #Overdrive consortium for this mostly poor area in 2007. Overdrive *will not allow new consortia.* By our 24-yr-old contract we can grow. Our annual fee is fixed. Other libraries *beg* to join. They cannot afford the annual fee. We fear growth, due to already massive holds pressure on bestsellers (we can’t afford enough copies). The publishers’ prices keep rising every year. #library #librariansofmastodon #librarians #LibbyApp
