I’ve merged a couple of datasets—with backups, column tweaking, and gritted teeth. I can now identify roughly 1600 titles that were once part of Eliza Ritchie’s library. Still need to chase bibliographic details for 500 items by the end of October I should have a decent dataset to start with. #libraryhistory #feministbibliography

In the spring I borrowed H.D.’s Heliodora out of random curiosity and popped it on my to read shelf where it’s sat unopened. Today while working with data collected from the same library’s Accession Books, I found a reference to a copy of Heliodora that came to the library after Eliza Ritchie’s death. On opening the book, I’ve found the right bookplate, the right accession date, and the right edition. Mildly astonished at the coincidence. #libraryhistory #feministbibliography

Just briefly awake right now #neuro but finally making a start watching a panel or two (recording) from the #SHARP23 #bookHistory academic #conference. I have until the end of August to watch what I want to. So need to keep nibbling at it. First up panels about #Bookstagram and also the new Eighteenth-Century Libraries Online digital project. #DigitalHistory #DigitalHumanities #DH #libraries #libraryHistory

A day of unending rain: might as well poke away on cleaning this dataset. I’m reconstructing the library of an early 20th C scholar, a woman who has largely disappeared from view though many of her books remain. #libraryhistory

Went for the combo. Did some tedious but necessary lookups and double checks for my #LibraryHistory project - there are 220-ish to go so I should be finished this pass by the end of the year. That would set me up for more drafting and lit review work in the dead of winter before checking survival rates in the stacks. Stacks checking will wait until the spring when the unmasked population in the library will drop. So now some pleasure reading.
local news is starting to poke at the new Bristol budget. Moving Bristol Central Library, the oldest, most continuously accessible public library in England and slashing its budget for a return of comparative peanuts is just plain wrong. #libraryhistory #libraries https://www.bristol247.com/news-and-features/news/central-library-could-move-as-part-of-council-cuts/
Hopped instances – new #introduction: I’ve passed thru many social networks starting with 1990s Freenets & hope for grace with the inevitable missteps.
I’ve been an #academic, a #telecom worker, & a #librarian. My partner & I have moved 1000s of #books across the country a couple of times & we’re now settled in Atlantic Provinces.
Recently retired, I spend more time #reading than is probably healthy. I research #BookHistory and #LibraryHistory and hope to get back to playing with textiles.

#Introduction: I go by Atlas on the internet, and I research and write about #personalknowledgemanagement (or #PKM) from a historical perspective – particularly #notetaking.

I'm not a professional, just somebody who adds more to my Zotero library than I can ever hope to read.
