A taky by se hodil nějaký snazší import těch 154 tisíc naposlouchaných tracků od r. 2006 z last.fm. 🙂

So... It looks like #GnuFM has been moth-balled, and the authors seem to be starting a new project that apparently will be #federated (tho it's tough to tell exactly since there is only a minimal README right now).

@RobertaFidora #LibreFM kind of laid the foundations for something like that. (I can't recall whether they switched to the #PumpIO protocol or not). These days, I can imagine something like the #Maloja servr, but using the #ActivityPub protocol. Of course, we'd get federated instances, so no-one will be able to get all the data (good riddance, Top10 lists). It could be interesting.

I wonder if it would be possible to have a #federated #music #scrobbler? Something in the vein of libre.fm (or last.fm if you must compare to Paramount-owned dodgy data-miner sites). I really liked the idea & used it all the time before last.fm was bought by CBS. I admittedly drifted away from using libre.fm but I wonder if the idea could be brought into the fediverse... Discovery is still a big problem for me. I suppose I could downgrade to a free #Spotify account, still benefit from their recommendations, and not have to listen to their ads because of #Spotiflyer. But I'd like to use #libre services like #LibreFM and #ListenBrainz. Libre.fm seems to be overloaded to the point of unusability, and I haven't yet figured out a workflow for ListenBrainz.

Hmm, #LibreFM is being very slow. My profile took a good 30 seconds to come up. Decided to delete my old account, which was under my real name, and that page just times out. Which makes me think libre.fm may not have much of the future. Should I just stick with ListenBrainz?

OK, I'm now listening to my library on my Pixel 5 running #GrapheneOS using #Odyssey and scrobbling to #LibreFM and #ListenBrainz via SimpleScrobbler, all downloaded from #FDroid. I connected ListenBrainz to #Spotify to bootstrap it.

Being on vacation is great, I managed to shave a little of the pile of bugs my projects have accumulated over the years.

This week I fixed mpris-scrobbler[1], which was crashing since mid February due to a change in libcurl that exposed a buggy usage of the API on my part.

Pretty soon I'll have a new release for it.
