@shibashecurity Check out the TP-Link stuff. I use 5 TP-link APs with their free Omada software at home, and they will do multiple SSIDs. You might need the Omada Controller to set it up, but if you're only going to use 1 AP, you might not need it online all the time, plus the software's free and doesn't have much overhead I run it on a Linux VM with #LibreNMS, #Netbox and #TechnitiumDNS and it's been very reliable.
#librenms #netbox #technitiumdns
@rolle I use both #LibreNMS (linux-centric - SNMP or librenms agent only), and annoying to contribute to, and #NetXMS which is awesome, java based, easy to contribute to, but with a learning curve like this: /
#Grafana is nice for graphics, but is no monitoring system...
I could demo either of them via #jitsi or similar sometime if you're interested...

Wow, so finally have my server's #iDRAC (integrated Dell remote access controller) on my monitoring system... Which is a VM on that machine.
The effects were STRANGE. Arping would transmit but never receive on that server, but my desktop could see both. I thought it was something to do with Linux bridging.
Turns out even though I had the physical Ethernet cable run to the iDRAC Ethernet port, it defaults to using ethernet0 in this weird piggyback mode that makes it so the same machine can't talk to its own iDRAC.
Going into iDRAC and telling it to use its own dedicated Ethernet fixed the issue, and now I can query it via SNMP!

If you run your own Mastodon server, you should be monitoring it! Here's how we monitor servers and our network at @nodespace with LibreNMS and how you can setup your own LibreNMS server to monitor your things.

@jhx #LibreNMS is great - so many things graphed, alters, traffic bills. It's complete and reliable. #Zabbix is ok, but not my favourite choice. #Nagios and #Munin are still around after almost 20 years and still reliable. #LibreNMS can help - also with #Windows. Have a look at it when you can. You'll be pleased.
#librenms #zabbix #nagios #munin #windows
@stefano I've heard a lot of good things lately about #LibreNMS - i guess i have to try it out in a vm.
#munin is great, used it before!
#zabbix was never really for me.. YMMV.
Never used #nagios myself before. I've used #Icinga in the past though - which is quite nice!
That is a mixed environment indeed. Getting all those operating systems under one roof can sometimes be an adventure - had this situation with #windows and #linux.

@jhx #uptime-kuma, mostly, as its services cover most of my needs. More, one of my favourite tools is #LibreNMS. Its services and #smnp monitoring and graphic capacities are great. I am also using #nagios, #munin and #zabbix, but as legacy tools for old servers. All of them on #FreeBSD, #OpenBSD, #Linux, #Mikrotik, etc. Oh, also for some #Windows servers and #Mac clients.

Je parle un tout petit peu de #librenms et de #proxmox dans cet article de blog : https://hindy.lovetux.net/post/librenms-proxmox/
Everyday #Ansible :ansible: makes me giggle like a little kid. Just finished deploying two #Ubuntu servers running
- Bind9
- ISC-DHCP in HA
with a really cool graphical overlay called Glass https://github.com/Akkadius/glass-isc-dhcp
complete with
- SNMP to #Librenms and
- Logs to #greylog.
All configs are dynamically generated with Jinja2 Templates.

Looks like the #LibreNMS server I have already running can do some simple syslog functions. Time to set that up.
whee #librenms installed @ home, haven't had it since i returned the servers to my last place of employment.
@solimanhindy ptet falloir que je reteste #librenms, ça fait des années qu'on est sous on #observium...
