#LibreTranslate is now enabled on frontrange.co! A big limitation is that Mastodon's current implementation relies on the metadata surrounding a post to identify the language.

This means that posts need their language set to a supported value in order for the Translate button to show.

Guys, I get that it's a FOSS project and you have to raise support, but that is NOT HOW YOU DO IT.

You *want* people to contribute translations for free.

With Fedilab you can use #LibreTranslate (default), #Lingva and #DeepL (you need your API key).

I see posts with German appear on my feed, I don't understand a word of it, however #Mastodon does, for the most part anyway, gives me the #LibreTranslate option, which allows me to understand most or all of the post...

Was letting myself get in a bit of a rut, so I've installed LibreTranslate on my instance. Just got to wait for a foreign language post to pop up to see if it works (though there's only ~50 language packs available for it)
