And it’s sad to witness how family after family thought such changes happen to “others” “elsewhere”, and when it happens to them, then it feels like the end is near. As if they weren’t told, or didn’t know at all. Perhaps it’s that for those whose trade is identity politics, anything outside their accepted dogma is dismissed as a plan by those with other identities, rather than genuine, honest communications. “Piensa el ladrón que son todos de su condición.”—the thief assumes everyone else steals too.

We seem all unable to acknowledge what we have done and continue to do to the environment and therefore to ourselves. When did we forget nature is finite and that we are part of it. When was it deemed acceptable to let society-wide decisions with deep long-term impacts be taken by a few rich corporations in connivance with spineless short-termist politicians. When was democracy reduced to voting every few years and never holding elected representatives accountable for their time in office.

It’s beyond frustrating to know and to witness the inaction. Like a slow-motion train wreck.

Finally finished sorting through that dining room corner. I got rid of most of the stuff in it, but I still have 4 boxes and some oversized art supplies that I don't want to get rid of, but I need to find a different space for. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

I need to start downsizing. My house is so cluttered because we don't have any storage and it's starting to get stressful. Plus, I can't keep the majority of this stuff once I get my RV and start moving my homestead to an RVStead.

Controlled-environment survival scenarios are farce. All that tech requires huge investment, available technology, tools and energy, people, lots of people but it can't reliably produce food without LOTS of chemicals. Nope. More fantasy and hopium.

Since this video was released (7 years ago), we've learned again and again that the globe is warming much faster than we predicted. Recently Hansen et.al. concluded that ~4°C is inevitable in the short loop and 10+°C is inevitable in the long loop. Not looking so good for designer tomatoes. Too late? Still must press on.

Well... I guess we really should try (authentically). But, it seems that ~4°C is baked into the short loop and ~10°C into the long loop (according to recent Hansen et al). So... ack. Still... gotta try. Perennial woodies, more climax forests, etc and of course the obvious:
