Yes, I use a #lighttheme for #programming most of the time.
What hurts isย having a painful mixture of light and dark, or sudden shifts between the two; e.g. light theme in a very dark room, dark theme in a light room, or alt/cmd-tabbing between light & dark screens.
In the day I work in a well-lit room with light-coloured walls, and almost all apps have a light theme, so light is generally best for me.
Dark theme is for late-night coding litย by just a table lamp.
I'm doing the unthinkable. I'm trying out #LightTheme in my OS, my apps, my terminal, my code editorsโฆ
It kinda reminds me of the themes we used to have for #mIRC with #NoNameScript or #BaFeScript. They were so colourful! Oh the good old days.

Does anyone know of a browser extension for #Firefox that will force websites to use #LightTheme?
As much as I appreciate Mastodon, the having to login on a black screen is painful.
In fact, I can't look at the login screen, or I would have to go lay down and keep my eye closed for several hours if I did so.

If like me you're tired of Advent of Code's dark theme I recommend installing CSS themes using Stylus. I am using the "Catppuccin Latte" from https://github.com/BurgundyDev/aoc-themes/. It makes a huge difference.

Just added #DarkTheme to my blog and would love to get some feedback as I use #LightTheme myself.

Oh, is it really? It looked similar from the site but I guess I didn't try it out.

Yep, definitely! This is what I've been using in vim, foot, and now tut.
@benjaminhollon @joel Iโm checking it out on my workstation and I can tell you itโs very different from the superior Solarized Light :rms:
All jokes though, itโs a very nice theme. Iโm liking the iTerm theme that they have listed on their GitHub page. The VSCode theme though Iโm not a bit fan of. For JS, having the async and function keywords be orange/red respectively is annoying. Their contrasts and hues are too similar.
No hate though, us #LightTheme users need to stick together! :smart:
I created a custom CSS warm light theme for mastodon.design inspired by Obsidian.md light theme color palette ๐จ
It also set the four columns of the advanced web interface to full width on large screens.
If some admins want to try it, I uploaded the code here: https://gist.github.com/timotheegoguely/c5d7a97f7a52e215ac8d16d2e094caed
I will update it if I add some new rules in the future. Enjoy!

I've been playing around with Twine today and decided to find out how to make a theme picker to switch between dark and light theme (as Twine projects default to dark theme, but I didn't want to hard code a light theme game!) and I've uploaded a simple solution to my itch.io!

I saw a post on my Tumblr dash that was like dark mode the greatest advance in web design in the past decade
And 1. were you on the internet prior to the past decade, but also 2. I found people in the notes who can't use dark mode and don't know why and now I'm sad
It seems that the Reddit mobile app will ignore that you've set it to light theme if you open a video post, all the comments are in dark theme with no way to fix it, I've just reported it to them as a bug cos ignoring a purposefully chosen theme is an oversight at best and user hostile at worst #LightTheme
I came across another article detailing the different issues with dark theme and whether it is truly better than light theme https://kevq.uk/is-dark-mode-such-a-good-idea/
oh but I was impressed by Discord's character growth around
#LightTheme the other day!
Just Google failing on their claims for dark theme yet again
I'm pretty sure a dark screen is going to pick up glare a lot more easily than a bright screen?
