I don't rate Starmer either but I live in NI - what I think doesn't matter. I can't vote for the party. I don't rate any English politician - they all have their flaws.

What I will say is we in #NI get the #lightweight, #hasbeen or a #nobody as SoS. We aren't on anyone's priority list.

So it doesn't bother me if he is bland or has zero charisma - that is the type of politician that we get sent from Westminster*

If we really want maintaining a society to be less resource demanding, then low resource societies, enabled by lightweight software, is the solution.

Low resource societies would benefit us in many ways. Most apparently, we would have control over development, we would encourage studying code and enable increased flexibility.

A major problem with this, is that todays portals are incompatible with low resource usage.

You can get one used with 4 GB RAM, WiFi and power supply for less than a @Raspberry_Pi #Pi4B2GB or #CM4WLite1GB at MSRP.
It'll run anything from #RaspberryPiOS for #ix86 and #lightweight #Linux distros like @bunsenlabs #BunsenLabsLinux to @ubuntu #UbuntuServer LTS and even @tails #Tails.
Tho #UbuntuDesktop will feel very slow on it.
But with something like #Porteus it's fine.

This means that only a few actors are able to keep up with the features. Safari, Chromium and Firefox.

Google is also proposing Manifest v. 3 which may take away our right to privacy.

With Gemini, we are in control over development, because one person is all that is needed to develop a functional browser.
