This one started out as a minor disaster but it's grown on me. Used Lamy ink but it turned out at the wash that Lamy ink is not waterproof and it ran.
Tested the pens I had and got some waterproof R&K sketchINK for later.
But it looked interesting so I let it dry, added more ink on top with a Micron and it's not awful. Been trying to get away from the paint-inside-the-lines thing and this accident is probably the first time I got there, so yay.

The marina building at Greystones harbour is probably my favorite sketching exercise at the moment. Not a curve in it, all simple shapes and shadows, lots of detail if you want it, and all of three colours unless you add in the hills and water.
Trying to get the line and wash work away from the "colouring book" look, and currently failing quite badly. Need to go rewatch a few of those courses or reread a few books methinks...

The radiated tortoise is most abundant in Southern Madagascar. It is very long lived, with a recorded lifespan of 188 years. This tortoise is a herbivore, grazing but also enjoying fruit and succulents. Sadly the radiated tortoise is now critically endangered due to habitat loss, poaching for food and the pet trade.

Really quick lunchtime sketch. I went straight to pen on the paper which I usually don’t do. Also tried to do the entire color in one loose wash. Didn't mean to go missing for so long! Been taking a break from social for a bit, started learning how to draw and paint using watercolours, line and wash mostly.
But it has been rewarding and I'm feeling more creatively engaged. Trying not to put too much pressure on this new thing, as I want it to last! (I'm pretty sure it's not just another ADHD passing obsession).
Did an online course by Becky Cao for four sessions in January and learnt a lot, would recommend.
Her YouTube channel is wonderful too, I love watching her go out on location drawing and painting landscapes, cafes, and food in her journal.
The image below is a recent sketchbook practice of one of my large mugs of tea!

I painted this impossible color wheel a few years ago using exactly three pigments.
There’s a right way to draw this version of the impossible triangle. If you look closely, you’ll see my rendition isn’t it. It’s not symmetric. So that’s me in the center not caring. Weeee!
