Chipping away at #LinebylineRereadsAnimorphs again with #Animorphs #3 The Encounter, and my notes include some observations that won't fit in the blog post. For instance:
I feel like it’s significant that, when they meet in Cassie’s barn, Cassie is working but nobody else is helping. Or maybe like it should be significant but it’s not? Maybe foreshadowing her role as handling the bulk of the group’s emotional labor later in the series? Or maybe I’m just picking up on it because it seems rude.

Working on the next #LinebylineRereadsAnimorphs post and thinking about Visser Three torturing Controllers to death. I'm sure it's some kind of a war crime, but it also made me think of the Third Amendment. Being one of those Hork-Bajir is kind of like having your house used to quarter troops who get punished by being locked in *with you* as the house is set on fire. But the house *is* you.
Not sure if I'm going anywhere with this.

Without spoiling it, I feel like when writing Megamorphs #1, Applegate looked at an infamous trope from old sci-fi movies and asked, "How can I make this make sense?"

In the back half of Megamorphs #1 and Marco's assessment of his own driving ability is giving me so much joy. This is the quality comic relief I've come to expect from this series.
"...I barreled down the road, hitting only the occasional mailbox."

I've been remembering #7 incorrectly all these years. I thought the bear was a practical thing, after the elephant failed to fit in the dropshaft in #5 and they had another enclosed space. Probably has something to do with the frontispiece showing Grizzly Rachel in the elevator.
The actual, emotional reason is much better writing.

Going over my notes for #6 and found where I'd written down, "This is the second book that mentions foxes and I’m kind of upset that, so far as I can remember, none of the Animorphs ever morphed a fox."

Last year I wrote about #Animorphs and how I felt the series' ending undermined its anti-war message, with the huge caveat that I hadn't actually read the books in quite a few years.
So now I'm re-reading the series and blogging it, starting with #1 and #2 here: https://www.linbylin.com/blog/animorphs_01-02.html
Currently reading Megamorphs #1 and working on the blog post for #3.
Will likely be tooting stuff that won't fit in the blog posts under #LinebylineRereadsAnimorphs, if you're interested (or want to mute).
