The Gary Lineker story is terrible.

It's a case of clear BBC bias. The Tory controlled BBC want to eliminate any non-Tory views - especially from the most prominent people.

His comments were made on a personal Twitter account and not on BBC programming. So, there's no impartiality problems.

Also, look at this response to a complaint about Chris Packham. Double standards at work here.

Don't really have much to say on #Linekergate or whatever we're supposed to be calling it, except that I never massively understood the whole culture of "let's get outraged about what views a BBC presenter expresses in their own time, via their own channels (eg. a personal Twitter account)"

So much selective outrage on that kind of thing as well - it suddenly becomes a non-issue if you agree with said presenter's views - which is obviously even less surprising
