It's been a decade long struggle; but, my partner has _finally_ accepted my NE Jersey/NYC pronunciation of that Italian cured-ham delicacy: pro-SHOOT, not pros-queet-to, not pro-zhoot-toe.

No. pro-SHOOT.

My great-aunt married into a full-fledged Italian family(whose patriarch may, or may not have been, indicted by the FBI for mob/labor indescretions...) so I got to sponge up a few of their quirks.

I, endearingly, still hold onto some of them.

📱 in : 'The Classification of the Traditions of : A Phyla-and-Waves Model' by Benjamin Kantor.

There are a whole host of modern reading traditions of Biblical , from , to , and . Despite the rich diversity of traditions of Hebrew at our fingertips, the relationship between them has never been mapped out. In this book the phyla-and-waves methodology, which has been used for Semitic language classification, is used to map out the relationship between the main reading traditions of Biblical Hebrew throughout history.

When I'm reflecting on ' trouble(s) I'm sometimes tempted by a form of determinism.

with complex tense/verb structures, require the speaker to form the whole sentence before starting to speak ( would be my go to example).

But allows a speaker to start a sentence with little idea where it will end, with sentences rambling & developing while remaining grammatical.

Making it up as we go along' served us well for generations, now not so much!

An international team of linguists and geneticists led by researchers from the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology in Leipzig has achieved a significant breakthrough in our understanding of the origins of Indo-European, a family of languages spoken by nearly half of the world’s population. The work is published in the journal Science.

An interesting evolution in french, I was an shop selling books in France and they didn’t know the word “signet”. They told me it’s “marque-page” but it seems the word “signet” is quickly replaced by “marque-page”. So due to the introduction of Internet “signet” is becoming outdated ;-)

Below in the ngram viewer results from Google books. Red is “signet” and blue is “marque-page”. I’m officially old

đŸ§”â€> Yet linguists have been so determined to hammer languages into trees (perhaps influenced by Darwin's success) that many still insist that creoles are not languages, and will claim that English, for instance, is a Germanic language rather than a Germanic-Romance creole. And will invent arbitrary divisions and sub-divisions of Romance -- which they can't agree upon, because they are mostly arbitrary. đŸ§”â€>

Un pangramme est une phrase qui utilise au moins une fois chaque lettre de l'alphabet.

Le pangramme français le plus connu (37 lettres, attribué à l'écrivain Georges Pérec) :
"Portez ce vieux whisky au juge blond qui fume"

Le pangramme anglais le plus connu (35 lettres) :
"The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog"
(Traduction : « Le vif renard brun saute par-dessus le chien paresseux »)

À vous de jouer + BOOSTER : pouvez-vous proposer un pangramme, de votre propre inspiration❓
