Noticing v. anecdotally - in - how quickly 'n often monoligual speakers of English in my context go on the defensive (in their tone of voice - a mix of sarcasm/affront) when presented with non-English sources and references: eg. 'would be nice to have an English plug-in for that!' or 'not all of us are multilingual' and 'I don't feel this is a very inclusive space'.

"English-language researchers are not obliged to add qualifiers [...] indicating their findings apply only to English, but the same standard is not applied to researchers of other languages who are told to demarcate their findings as applicable only to a specific language and context. There is an implicit assumption that findings from English are generalizable [...], but studies from other languages are not. This should be a matter of critical reflection..."
