My hot take on #BIBFRAME is that it's never happening. It's been in the pipes for over ten years now, and they've done some amazing things in that time.

But:
- The cataloguing software doesn't support it.
- There are no editors (I spent all day trying to run the one made by #LibraryOfCongress and it won't go. Their readme is useless.)

Fun with admin: Trying to contribute 16 rather trivial data points to an external data set triggered several month of contract drafts going back and forth, and two legal departments failing to agree on a liability clause (where none of us see any actual liability issue). At #GrapHNR2023 Tara Andrews and Carla Ebel presented a way to include authority and provenance in knowledge graphs. Semantic webs are designed for unambiguous and available data, but historical data are often missing, uncertain or even conflicting. Introducing viewpoints, the Structured Assertion Record Model is able to deal with controversy in #LinkedOpenData

Next @BionomiaTrack dataset I'm working on will be
#FieldMuseum Insect, Arachnid & Myriapod collection. Looks like someone has been working on this as it's at 31%. I should be able to increase that easily if I can find living collectors #ORCIDs. #Wikidata #LinkedOpenData

That #FieldMuseum @BionomiaTrack dataset I was working on is now at 40%. That is, in #Bionomia 40% of the specimens in that dataset are now linked to either the #ORCID or the #Wikidata item for the collector or determiner of those specimens. It's now up to the FieldMuseum to decide whether they want to make use of that linking. #LinkedOpenData

So I'm heading to the #FieldMuseum while in Chicago next week and thought I'd spend time today working on their datasets in @BionomiaTrack First up is the Invertebrate Collection which is currently sitting at 14% complete. Pretty sure I can do better than that! #LinkedOpenData #Wikidata #ORCID

I had a great day yesterday at the first @uk_ie_dh annual meeting at the University of London Senate House. We heard some great introductory talks about the new organisation and it's practices, and saw the fruits of a thorough series of consultations and scoping exercises as part of events during lockdown.

We also heard a great set of lightning talks about #ElectronicLiterature and Complex Digital Literature and it's exhibition/sustainability as well as best practice for #LinkedOpenData and using #AI to identify objects in the UK portable antiquities scheme.

Finally a great keynote from Agiatis Bernardou of DARIAH-EU entitled 'Interweaving Legacies: DHRIs, Difficult Heritage, and the Powers of Collaboration, Inclusivity and Openness'.
