The box said: compatible with Work with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa, and SmartThings.

In theory, that means that--as all of the above are OTBRs and support Matter--I should be able to pair the bulbs directly with them over Wifi. So I tried it with SmartThings.

Note: SmartThings works with literally almost everything and generally, if you can get something into ST, you may have various limitations due to proprietary stuff by the manufacturer, but it's solid.
