I don't know about you but the #coronation of #KingCharlesIII is still a couple of days away & already I am fed up to the back teeth with it.

I thought I'd avoid much of it by being in a marquee on Saturday at a beginners #linocutting class, but I'd under-estimated (which was clearly foolish of me) the extent of the media activity focussed on the #royals in the run-up to this weekend.

hopefully by the end of the #bankholiday weekend we can all just move on!

Does anyone who does #Linocutting have opinions on #BlockPrintingInk , specifically #WaterSolubleInk vs. #OilBasedInk ? I've been doing #Linocut for years but only with #Speedball water soluble or regular ol stamp pads (not practical for bigger pieces)

It's a narrow window when water ink is at the "just right" stage & if I'm doing 5 prints in a row, 3 is perfect, 2 & 4 are fine, 1 & 5 are ok-to-poor

Does oil-based give you longer working times? Less blotchy 1st prints? Less cakey last prints?

Working on an original #linocut design on 300gsm watercolour card this week. Needed to scratch that itch. Enjoying the process. What to do now. Trying 2 come up with a title 4 it. What do you think? Does it need one? Have created a few cards and am also creating larger framed versions using himalayan #lotkapaper and Cranfield gold relief ink, which is wonderful to work with. All hand burnished. From idea, to lino print.
After taking part in a few 20:20 print making challenges, I wanted to do something a bit different with lino. I wanted to 'destroy' the lino but not by colour reduction. While thinking about how things get destroyed I was also watching the film Twister when a series of telegraph poles and wires were wrenched apart.
Grabbing a sketchbook, this was the idea for STORM.

Large lino block carved, inked with metallic silver paint and hand printed onto painted lining paper to create unique wallpaper. The repeat design took me a while to workout! Plus a close up of the detail of the leaves carved and inked with black.
