15 followers · 49 posts · Server techhub.social@jhx I can only assume part of the problem is that they deliver #linphone on #Linux in one of these "#container" formats (guess it was "appimage"?), so they don't have to care about breaking ABI/API, just put all the crap in some archive and be fine 🙈

And to add insult to injury, I just noticed they do breaking changes without bumping the major version of the lib. Ok, bump them all then ... 😜

Personally, I only use #FLOSS for comms and that saved me from all the #junk, #Govware and #Spam spread through shitty #SingleVendor / #SingleProvider messengers.
In fact, I only use:

- #JitsiMeet & #WebCall for #Videoconferencing & #ConferenceCalling

Ich nutze die APP #linphone (weil gut verschlüsselt) und den Anbieter https://www.voip2gsm.de/. Da gibt es zwar keine Rufnummer, die sind aber sehr zuverlässig und günstig in das Mobilnetz und Ausland. Die Rufnummer habe ich dann in Linphone von https://www.sipgate.de/. Eingang also sipgate und Ausgang Voip2gsm, wobei man bei Voip2gsm eine beliebige Absenderkennung hinterlegen kann.

While I use #linphone as a desktop client for #coventry developent, I have considered what a @rocketchat desktop and mobile front end could do as a universal front-end to unify and integrate both messaging and #voip in a single client. Of course there is no reason this could not also be done with something like freeswitch or asterisk, too. And all of these enable local servers that @moxie hates. @aral @bob
