Reading #LinuxFormat.
Someone asked about a distro where they seemed to have to install apps per-user (which they didn't expect). It's because it has a read-only root partition and app separation. Which is great.
But then the reply said "it's inefficient for space, but that's not a problem and most apps use far more space for user data".
My dude, have you SEEN LibreOffice? And VS Code? And Skype? I do not have half a gig of documents or source code or VOIP calls!
If you've ever wanted to know more about static site generators and GitHub pages, then have a look at my article in this month's Linux Format.

@harrymccracken Hell, I'm still pissed #ByteMagazine was changed into #MaximumPC, but I think #LinuxFormat is still around!

Reading the latest #LinuxFormat magazine and… wow, flashback! They have Pidgin in their hotpicks!
I remember running it with MSN, Y!IM, AIM and ICQ accounts!
Then I gave up because everyone seemed to move off instant messaging.
(Anyone else also remember using Trillian on Windows for the same thing? 🧓)
In this month's article, I cover Fedora Silverblue. Silverblue utilises tight integration of containers and a read-only file system to ensure the security and stability of the operating system.

Lately I've been reminiscing about the late 90s and early 2000s online era. Back then I was one of the only all around computer/IT folks in my town and surrounding area. I don't even know how many systems I build back then but to this day I can still rattle off Windows install keys from that era.
Recently I was going through some boxes and stumbled on these gems.

Reading #LinuxFormat.
#eBPF looks interesting. I'll just install the bcc-tools and run the commands…
"error: incompatible integer to pointer conversion passing 'u64' (aka 'unsigned long long') to parameter of type 'const void *'"
"incompatible integer to pointer conversion initializing 'struct request *' with an expression of type 'unsigned long'"
Ah. Yes. C code 😑
Excited to find that #LinuxFormat magazine is provided by my local library via #Libby
Thanks a lot to #linuxformat Jonni and Neil for their nice article on Emmabuntüs published this month in their magazine : https://issuu.com/futurepublishing/docs/lxf287.issuu/24
@Twelve
Yes, they are some good ones. I am looking forward to installing #tails. It looks like fun and I haven’t messed with a #debian based distro for ages. The #linuxformat magazines are hit and miss for me I’m afraid so yes it may be worth checking each month and purchasing ones you like the look of.
Appearing in the October 2013 issue of #linuxformat when I was working at #Jolla. Still feels surreal looking at it. I don't remember where I kept the hardcopy though 😅
Un grand merci à #LinuxFormat de nous avoir permis de publier le comparatif des distributions GNU/Linux 32 bits alternatives, ou nous sommes cités ❤️ ♻️ :linux: :debian: 💻 👍 👉
