You may have noticed that (contrary to my previous announcement) I did *not* submit a game to the #LinuxGameJam2023. Ran into some nasty last minute issues and didn’t make it in time. 🙁
So I might as well give it some more time in the oven now and brush away some of its rough edges. Which – knowing me – probably means it will never get a proper release... 😅
Anyways, here’s another screenshot.

We had a one-day extension for #LinuxGameJam2023. I learned a new PICO-8 token optimisation technique and managed to cram a boss fight into the game! 🛸💥 Here is the Dev Log:
And here is a clip of the boss-fight in action:
Hey! I made a small racing game you don't win by finishing first.
To play against the machine or your friends on split screen.

Hope you have fun. I made it for the #LinuxGameJam2023
Well, @MichaelBrune has followed, and about all I know is they participated in #LinuxGameJam2023 and have a completed project. I tried, but only got 1 day of work in, and most of that day was trying to do something in one way, only to decide to eventually give up on that approach, and switch to a different approach and not even fully get that to the state I should have had (there are probably known bugs).
Had a busy weekend, fortunately I finished my #LinuxGameJam2023 submission ahead of schedule. You can find it here! https://aarroz.itch.io/cosmic-courier-cameron
Without giving away the game's idea yet: Here's the #PixelArt background I made for it today. What do you think? 😳

Just to be sure I checked the submission deadline for the #LinuxGameJam2023 again – and learned that it has been extended by 24 hours. 😮
Don't know the reasons, but it's very much appreciated! 😅 Think I'd have made it (barely!) in time, but with all that extra time it will be a lot more relaxed.
So, in other words: I'll release a lil' game tomorrow evening! 😁
My submission for the #LinuxGameJam2023 is out! I got sick over the weekend but managed to catch up and get it done more or less.

I just submitted my 2023 Linux game jam entry at https://underflow-studios.itch.io/terminal-adventure which is an attempt at recreating the 1986 ARPANET environment and retelling the Clifford Stoll book The Cuckoo's Egg.
It's completely open source using the 0 clause BSD license (public domain.) using Godot 4.
It's been exciting and a struggle. I want to thank @Cheeseness for hosting and encouraging my work not only through this game jam but throughout the years

On Day 9 of #LinuxGameJam2023 Antsy Alien Attack Pico 👾🛸💥 became a playable game. Here's the dev log for the day:
I invite you to come and beat the author 😁
The #LinuxGameJam2023 is nearing its conclusion. I spent most of the day hunting for PICO-8 tokens. Over 200 reclaimed; here's my Dev Log for Day 8
Of the 226 reclaimed tokens, 194 were used to create 2 new mini-games. Here are clips of them in action.
It is #LinuxGameJam2023, and Antsy Alien Attack Pico is taking shape. Here's today's Dev Log:

Not all ideas and good ideas. Some game mechanics have been removed as playtesters said they didn't add anything to the game. That made space for a new mini-game: Cargo Run. Here is that mini-game and a clip of "ghostly" aliens when the weapons jammer power-up is active:
Day 6 of #LinuxGameJam2023 was focused on incorporating improvements based on the excellent playtesting feedback I'm getting 🙇 This included improving communication with the player, and having the game teach new players how to play. Here's the Antsy Alien Attack Pico Dev Log for the day:

5 Zones are now available, with progressive difficulty, distinct mini-games and between 6 and 8 objectives. And here are some examples of how the on-screen messaging has evolved.
Day 5 of #LinuxGameJam2023 and Antsy Alien Attack 👾🛸💥 is starting to come together. Here's my Dev Log

All the power-ups are in place, more sprite animations, more mini-games and training missions to serve as a quick tutorial integrated into the game 🧑🎓 Here are some of the train missions in action:
Welcome to Day 4 of #LinuxGameJam2023; here's my Dev Log for Antsy Alien Attack Pico 👾🛸💥
A large slice of my time today was spent PICO-8 token hunting 🔍️ 245 were reclaimed and immediately burned to add player pickups 🔥 Thanks to my crack team of playtesters, a whole bunch of tweaks and improvements were made. Here's the player pickups in action with an artificial drop rate
Yesterday's progress on my #LinuxGameJam2023 game. I'm having fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBu2-ty7Fzs
My win/fail states seem to be working on my #LinuxGameJam2023 entry. Looks like I just need to polish it and I'll have a short, sweet game finished.
Day 2 of #LinuxGameJam2023 is coming to a close, so here is my Dev Log for the day:

Today mostly refined what I put together yesterday, fixing bugs and planning the next steps. I did get to adding new some new alien characteristics and firing patterns. Here's how things are shaping up:
