Anyone recommend any chess games for beginners that will run on Linux? Trying to learn, and it seems when I google chess for Linux it comes up with these complicated installs the require chess engines and shit.. I just want a stand alone game that is good for beginners.

Hello fellow #Linux Users, I have been a long time arch user, and was thinking about trying a new distro. I primarily use my system for sysadmin work in the day, and then gaming at night.

What distro do you use? and any pros/cons of that distro?

I bought a brand new 4TB NVME m.2 drive and its just itching to have a new distro installed on it :)

@dryak Well, @EU_Commission, I think a lot of #linuxgamers would be seriously interested if you could clarify the language: does "right to (...) play them on any device using any operating system." includes #Linux (e.g. SteamOS on a #Steamdeck, or #Ubuntu on a laptop +/- an extra layer such as Wine or Proton)?
If that's the case that would awesome for supporting operating systems diversity (and open-source in general).

Getting a crash to desktop the second I launch the game. I use a 6600XT. Game ran on my old gtx 1060 but it was on Ubuntu a few months back. Is this an AMD bug? Is this new? I haven't been able to find anyone else having issues lately on Linux.

Um... I'm not great at #introduction of myself. I'm a #linux hobbyist. I own a #SteamDeck and run #manjarolinux on my #omen15. I've used #gentoo in the past, when I hated myself (lol) and found a sort of peace on #ArchLinux. I'm not in any technical field now and am more of a #linuxgamers person now. #proton is a lifesaver. I'm looking for more #foss to uncomplicate life. However, #Google #chrome has it's hooks into me for millions of difficult to recall passwords. This is my shame to carry. Hi!

#Linuxgamers: Which distro are you using?

Hi #linuxgamers! Looking for a new laptop, to do development and a bit of gaming. From what I understand, Intel GPU are vastly under-powered and NVidia GPU laptops are still a pain to run smoothly on Linux. Am I right to assume the safest bet is an AMD GPU?

@boilingsteam As more and more #linuxgamers use Wine and Proton to play Windows games instead of their native #Linux counterparts, my fear is that developers will feel less inclined to work on native builds, let alone use Wine-friendly libraries like Vulkan. That's why I'd kindly encourage my fellow gamers to use native builds whenever possible.

#Problemwolf, #problembär, ich sehe nur #problemmensch. Den Wolf hatten wir hier vor 4 Monaten bereits hinter unserem Garten gesichtet. Das Problem ist aber nicht der Wolf, sondern das wir Menschen nicht kapieren wollen das der begrenzte Raum von allen Wesen geteilt werden muss. Übrigens, gerissen hat der Wolf in unserer Nachbarschaft nichts. Obwohl er/sie leichtes Spiel hätte. Alle Tiere laufen frei rum. Auch die leckeren Rehe.
