#Reaper users - I run Reaper Linux and had a computer crash. After setting up a new one and transferring over my Reaper, project, Wine, VST, etc. folders, the projects open fine, but although MIDI tracks show the note data, any Windows VSTs used in Carla are gone. Carla is there, and native Linux effects that were used show up in it. Just not the Windows VSTs. They (the VSTs all work normally for any new projects).

What would cause this? Is there a way to retrieve the missing instruments?

Luckily these were not critical projects, still I would like to know in case this ever happens again!

I was going to continue work on a couple of new pieces, only to find that my music production computer has died. I back everything up each night, and have an older computer I can setup as a replacement, but even with adding more RAM and changing the drives to SSDs, the processor makes it a step backwards. Oh well - at least it is something. Thank goodness for backups!

I am wondering if any of the #Linux musicians here use #Qtractor. I've been playing around with it lately (I normally use #Reaper) and am impressed. It is not as robust of a #DAW as #Reaper or #Ardour, but it is easy to work with and has some nice things going for it. The MIDI editor is a little wonky, but other than that I found it to be quick and easy. Thoughts?
