Nur noch wenige Tage bis der "Month of the linux phone" beginnt.
Ich gebe zu, das ich ein wenig sorge habe, es nicht durch zu halten. Aber was macht man nicht für alles für eine gute Episode und aus Neugierde?

Immer noch Probleme meine online-konten ein zurichten, da die Tastatur nicht durchgereicht wird, aber okay. Werde das schon überleben.

Für alle die es nicht mitbekommen haben, oder es verpasst haben.
Ich werde am 01.09.2023 mein Android Telefon abschalten und komplett auf einem Ubuntu touch device leben.
Das ganze ist für 4 Wochen geplant. Ich selbst bin gespannt wie es wird und was ich vermissen werde.
Damit benutze ich dann einen Monat nur Linux privat und kein Android/Windows

Ich bin extrem gespannt.
Das ganze mündet in einer Podcast Episode natürlich.

Looks like #Purism grossly underestimated the cost and time needed to develop the promised device and eventually couldn't afford to give refunds without abandoning the project (at least, that's what they claim).
Yet, they kept telling customers that refunds will be given, then ghosting them.

can an average person use a linux phone?

I've been reading some articles about mobile Linux and many of them state one must be an "advanced user" or that the software isn't secure. How true is this?

I already use Linux on my laptop, but I'm not a software developer or anything like that. Would I be able to slap a new OS onto an old Android phone and be on my way, or would I run into problems?

I found #arch to be a good choice for #steamdeck and the #aur to have many of the things I wanted to demo from #phosh #gnome mobile and other apps from #purism like calls, chatty, etc... And the steam deck ran them like a champ making exploring the #linuxphone much easier time wise than both my #pinephone and #librem5 -- although not as good a fit beyond demoing.

It helps to rotate the frame buffer in the kernel options and copy the rotation config from gnome to gdm for a phone like experience if that's your thing.

Mon Sony Speria X a fêté ses 5 ans (pas si mal pour un tel à 200€ !) et je cherche un remplaçant avec un OS alternatif (~300€).

Après une expérience avorté sur ubuntu phone (bq aquaris) j'ai pas le courage de retenter...

Le projet e/OS/ est sexy et semble solide. 💪

Côté hardware par contre c'est + compliqué,
le Teracube 2e est intéressant (~ durable/réparable comme le fairphone) mais parait être en fin de vie et prix++ au vue des specs. 😬

Can you please use one hashtag to make it easier for people to follow the developments?
