As a tech person whose seen a lot of 'progress' since the mid 80's (windows 1.0/2.1 onwards...), it never fails to astound me just how much of windows functionality is left hollowed out for third party commercial interests to take up the slack.

Meaning your working OS costs enough and then some, to cover basic functionality expected to be integral to the OS!

I'm always disappointed! Always.

It feels like gaps are held open in functionality, to encourage costly third party solutions, or to leave a niche for scam ware to thrive, so an official solution can be sold to you to fill that gap.

Always online, always updating and changing means no-one knows quite where they are or what is expected of the functionality that is available. Shifting landscapes can't be held accountable.

I'm glad that #linuxrocks is migrating server and network because I love the instance and it's such a shame when it goes down.

Is is permitted to have another account on a different server with the same username and profile?

When the server instance is down, I've lost access to toots of those I follow.

I don't really want to leave here, but once an instance is down there is no way to login or find out when it is likely to be back.

Also #hostux doesn't seem to update my verification status to a websiste I own. It has been ovver 10 days and still isn't green and validated.

One of the best linux customizations I ever did for myself is turn caplocks into a level 3 shift and set lvl3 + spacebar to output an underscore. Making_snake_case_1_million_times_easier_and_faster.

also lvl3 + hjkl are set to arrow keys,
<> are ←→,
and lvl3 + a activates (toggles) the capslock so no functionality is truly lost.

all using just a custom xkb configuration that works between xorg and wayland
