Seth Tobocman is a narrative graphic artist, a co-founder of the “World War 3 Illustrated” magazine. Seth is one of the premier political artists in the USA. He has been involved with the Lower East Side art space and cultural center ABC No Rio since its most activist phase during the Lower East Side squatting movement of the '90s. He has made work with social movements throughout his career, working directly with activists. The same is true for Susan Bietila, who will present with Seth. Her experience with graphics and political movements is deep, going back to the ‘60s and her work on LES underground newspapers. She is presently active with indigenous water defenders in the US-Canada border region. Susan and Seth work together on the “WW3” magazine today.

Join us for an evening with artists Seth Tobocman and Susan (Sue) Simensky Bietila, two of the minds behind World War 3 Illustrated, the legendary political comics anthology that has been going strong since 1980. Tobocman founded the magazine with fellow cartoonist Peter Kuper and painter Christof Kohlhofer, and Milwaukee's own Simensky Bietila is a frequent contributor. We will talk comics, activism and the end of times.
