his entertainment. But he does not pay openly for his news.
He will, however, pay handsomely for the privilege of having someone read about him. He will pay to advertise." - Walter Lippmann that's about 100 years ago. It's obvious that on paid #socialmedia we are not the customer we are the product.

Personally I love to learn how #propaganda ( #disinformation /#misinformation ) work and its relationship to advertising. Keep in mind Bernays was an advertiser when he wrote his book on Propaganda. I think we need to look more at how psychology driven propaganda (advertising!) drives groups on #socialmedia and what happens when social medium is left to its own devices. That intrigues me. So to try and answer your question does being more interconnected risk our individuality? I think it really depends on whether its us or an advertiser hoping to get dopamine hits from us. #Lippmann insisted we were too cheap (obvious paraphrase) to pay for news hence we ended up ( #Chomsky ) being the prey of advertisers/propagandists.

Intéressant de relire #lippmann dans "Drift & Mastery" il invite à renforcer au maximum les syndicats, pour que les salariés puissent le plus possible participer et contrôler les entreprises, sur un mode coopératif. Il met l'accent sur l'éducation et la coopération car tout pouvoir central, vertical, n'est pas assez sage. A peine croyable quand on sait qu'il est l'un des fondateurs avérés du néolibéralisme...
