Large language models seem to be creating employment vistas for specialists in narrative (and wizards):

"Prompt engineers" are being hired to shepherd the behaviour of generative AI tools with dialogues that "play out like intricate logic puzzles: twisting narratives of requests and responses, all driving toward a single goal."

But the systems "lie to you. They mislead you. They pull you down false paths to waste time on things that don’t work. You’re casting spells — and, like in fictional magic, nobody understands how the spells work and, if you mispronounce them, demons come to eat you.”

Time for a proper #introduction, using all the hashtags to help build #networks of #care

Hi! I'm Solvejg and work in #literaryStudies and #CulturalStudies at the #German department in #Dresden (#TUdresden to be exact) started out with #catastrophes and #historyOfScience in a book on the #TunguskaEvent.

Most of what I do happens in #EnvironmentalHumanities - I'm interested in #Climate and #Wilderness narratives and right now I focus on #plants. I'm writing a book on #trees and how they turn into #archives, #ghosts and #monsters...I get really excited about it all, as you'll see 😁

One of the main reasons for me to be active on social media is a personal (as well as academic) interest in #sciComm #WissKomm. There is just no way to do the work without listening to others!

I am currently working on a rather interdisciplinary #Habilitation project on the history of knowledge and literature of #boxing that is based on a reconstruction and analysis of German-language boxing discourse and its (discourse)semantics from 1750 to the present. Generally, I am interested in the connection between discourse, semantics and (literary) text production. I post mostly in German.
