This arrived today from NYU. A sometimes benefit of submitting work to literary reviews is receiving an issue, or even a year of them. They didn’t accept my work; rejection is part of making any type of art. I love experiencing the art of others, though, so this is a nice consolation prize.

#phonetics #litReview does anyone have an example of a particularly good lit review? preferably an accessible read for an advanced undergraduate, with an experimental approach
In a recent book chapter, Katharina Ludwig & I present a structured #LitReview of #PoliticalPolarization #Effects caused by #SocialMedia Use.
We find that the field suffers from a lack of conceptual & methodological rigor. Taken together, our analysis does not support the often cited notion that #Platforms (let alone #Algorithms) considerably contribute to the #Polarization of their #Users.

#LitReview question - can anyone point me to work on the experience of participating in online communities. E.g., where people are, who they are with, what emotions they experience, etc.?
This is related to research on motivations but distinct, I think.
I'm thinking about starting a #LitReview on how Teams (broadly defined) of people communicate and network with each other to solve complex problems.
How is info shared? What info is open, what is privileged? What is the role of trust in communciations? etc etc
If you know of any good papers, please share
i wrote a #haiku to summarize all of #science and save you a lot of time on your #litreview:

does anyone know off hand about any research on the revenue maximising inheritance / estate tax rate? or have any ideas about what rough ballpark we'd be talking about?

Is anyone familiar with prior work that explores *who* provides feedback in online communities?
There is some work on identifying "experts" in knowledge-sharing communities, but is there research identifying what kinds of users are doing the social/community work of welcoming and encouraging new participants?
Any pointers at all, even peripherally relevant, would be appreciated!

Just finished reading "The City and the City" by China Mieville. This book reminded me in the best way of The Scar and Perdido Street Station. An engrossing world and story built around a really interesting conceit, just altered enough from our world that you could see Besz and Ul Qoma if you squint. #litreview
Bookmarked Elicit.org
A while ago I mentioned Research Rabbit here as a tool to find research papers, based on the ones already in my collection (e.g. through syncing with Zotero). Last week I created an account at Elicit. It's a natural language processing based algorithm to find relevant papers for you based on a specific research question you give it to work with (although it can also take you
