Look what just landed on my porch. I've been waiting years for this book to arrive. I was a "subscriber" back in the day. It's the 25th anniversary edition of Little, Big by John Crowley, originally slated for publication in September 2006. The 40th anniversary has come and gone. But it's finally here! And I have to say: worth the wait.

O. M. G. I posted about the announcement of this crowd-funded edition of #LittleBig when it was announced at Potlatch in March of 2004. 19 years later I have a copy. Awed congratulations to Ron Drummond and everyone else who persevered to make it happen.

I recall ordering this book back in 2011, but I know some people have waited even longer than I have for it see the light of day. It was billed as the 25th anniversary edition of John Crowley’s brilliant Little, Big. But time passes, as it’s wont to do, and it‘s now the 40th anniversary edition of a book originally published in 1981 and arriving in February 2023…

At 2.6kg, it’s so heavy I can barely lift it.

The story of this book's publication is incredible, like a literary fable about the impossibility of publishing the perfect edition. I ordered my copy in my twenties and it's finally being delivered... well, after one last delay!

I couldn't rationalize buying a copy of that new _Little, Big_ edition (it looks utterly gorgeous, BTW), but I think it might be time for another re-read - haven't done one in about 25 years.

#LittleBig prob took me at least 3 tries to get going on it, but I re-read it twice within the next 4-5 yrs & again in the late-90s. Not many books - if any - have had a bigger impact on me. (Main contender would be another Crowley book, either _The Deep_ or _Engine Summer_.)

I feel a bit thrilled because I honestly just thought that this much-loved book that has been with me for decades was an obscure thing nobody had ever heard of!

My copy is from 1986.

I just watched a video of @neilhimself unboxing the #LittleBig 25th anniversary edition and I am SO EXCITED to receive this book! I ordered it all the way back in 2008, a few years after I first discovered the novel and it became my favorite. I've followed the project ever since and I'm so grateful to Neil for rescuing it. According to his video there are still copies available to order, jump on it!
