Little Feat - Little Feat

LA bands were *weird* back in the late 60s/early 70s. You think of the faux cowboy Eagles, the tin-pan Tom Waits, the hippie-hating Zappa freaking out, the louche Doors, and the kinda bluesy, kinda southern boogie Little Feat... it's a diverse crew (and there are many more).

This is altogether different than the later albums, with far more blues, and it deserves a place with their best.

Little Feat - Feats Don't Fail Me Now

More funky boogie from the band, on this follow-up to Dixie Chicken. And while it's not quite as strong a record, song-wise or sound-wise, it's still a lot of fun...and has a lot of classic tracks on it to boot.

These guys can certainly play.

Peak Little Feat (with others not far behind), this is an incredibly fun, funky, soulful album. Everyone is just so in the pocket, the songs are beautifully crafted...a perfect record.

This is the new 3-LP release, beautifully remastered by Bernie Grundmann and nicely pressed.

Little Feat - Sailin' Shoes (3-LP)

This eclectic album is chuck full of great songs and performances, so much *groove*, and has been nicely remastered by Bernie Grundmann.

Essential Little Feat starts here, continues through Dixie Chicken, and wraps with Waiting for Columbus...three perfect records (all remastered).

Frank Zappa, whatever else you might think, was an excellent judge of talent, and both Lowell George and Roy Estrada came from his band.

When I first heard #littlefeat, I was mystified. I had gone to music college. I thought I knew my shit. And here comes Little Feat, with an inspired mix of jazz, blues and soul. I'm still impressed and inspired by how they don't hold themselves to traditional song structure.

I have personal connections to many songs (Willin' especially) but if I could perform one song, it'd be Skin It Back.

Great Albums - 1970s: #LittleFeat – #DixieChicken (1973). Failure to snag a definitive FM hit led to the Feat being denied their spot in the pantheon of great 70s bands – at least among the uninitiated. This LP is as consistent, soulful, and brilliantly played as anything The Allmans, The Band, or the Doobie Brothers turned out in the period, and Lowell George is only the most prominent figure in a band that could play rings around the moon and back.
