Je n’ai que la traduction anglaise (1500+ pages), mais pour une fois je crois que ça n’a pas d’importance – ce n’est pas son style littéraire qui fait impression, mais la hard SF du récit qui s’étend sur cinq siècles depuis la Révolution culturelle en Chine au dernier réfuge de l’humanité à 300 années-lumiere du système solaire. 1/3

Hoy voy a hablaros de #libros. Concretamente de mi #calendariolector, los libros que tengo pensado #leer este mes (lo que comunmente se denomina #TBR).

Me he metido en muchos berenjenales, pero el mes pasado me pasó la oposición por encima y los cierres de temporada de los #clubesdelectura, así que se me ha cumulado mucho #libropendiente para Julio. Si consigo leer más, pues caerán más, pero los que tengo que leer sí o sí este mes son:

1. #Elbosqueoscuro, de #cixinliu o #liucixin. Para la #lecturaconjunta que estoy organizando de la trilogía. El viernes hablaré en directo de la primera meta de este segundo libro: toda la primera parte. Recordad que, si os decidís a participar, seréis más que bienvenidos.

2. Otra #lecturaconjunta, aunque esta no la llevo yo, sino un grupo de comunidades: 500 días para leer el #Cosmere, la famosa macrosaga de #Brandonsanderson . El día 9 hablaremos de #Arenablanca, la #novelagrafica. Si alguien más está interesado, que me lo diga y le paso los enlaces necesarios al #Discord

3. Llevo un mes de retraso en el #Retolector de la #Biblioteca Provincial de #Córdoba. Quería leerme #Bellasdurmientes, de #StephenKing y #OwenKing para Junio, y a ese le tengo que sumar un libro "con mucha magia", y estoy pensando en que sea un #comic o #manga. Tenia por ahí comprado #Elprincipedelacalamidad, y no sé si valdrá... Ya os iré contando.

4. Tenía abierto #lasestrellassonlegión (o #lesbianasenelespacio) de #Kameronhurley para un club de lectura en el que duré una sesión. Pero su selección estaba interesante y ya quiero terminar los libros, porque tenían muy buena pinta.

5. #Magicalreadathonorilium2023. El año pasado ya me cree al personaje de Metis, y este año la iniciativa es de viajar por el mundo creado por su autora. Este mes toca "leer con luz", que interpreto a leer a la luz del día. Me vale cualquiera de los anteriores, pero me sabe mal ser tan cómoda. O cuelo otro manga, o aprovecho y me leo #genésis, de #bernardbeckett, que me lo han recomendado hasta la saciedad y le tengo muchas ganas.

Y eso es todo, de momento. Creo que tengo bastante tarea. Otro día vendré a contaros todos los libros que me he ido comprando desde hace unos meses y que estoy leyendo poquito a poquito.

Oh look #3BodyProblem is in the news, based off the book “Three Body Problem” and its corresponding trilogy.

I liked the books, they were fun, yes, but what disappointed me deeply was that the author, #LiuCixin, portrayed a world where the capitalist mode of production would continue indefinitely into the future, where ecological problems could be handwaved by technology (living underground or in compact cities for example).

In the third book, “Death's End,” where a character hundreds of years in the future says outright, “You think I’m just a capitalist? Well, you’re not wrong. I am, and so are the members of the board of directors. We want to maximize profits.”

Think about that, Liu Cixin, a man who has lived his whole life in a supposedly socialist system, unable to think of a world beyond capitalism. And that's profoundly sad.

Bin eigentlich nicht so der SF Fan, aber der gute #LiuCixin hat sich überzeugende Szenarios ausgedacht, spannend / unterhaltsam und seine Welten sind in sich schlüssig. Prima Lektüre, empfehlenswert!

Question for Cixin Liu's readers who've seen the Chinese 2023 TV show Three-Body:

After watching the show (I'm still a few episodes shy) can I follow the story skipping the first book and jumping straight to The Dark Forest? Or will I miss essential info? I know it might be literary sin but... I'll want to know what happens next without starting from the beginning again.
