"Bennie and the Jets" (also titled "Benny & the Jets") is a song written by English musician #EltonJohn and songwriter #BernieTaupin, and performed by John. The song first appeared on the #GoodbyeYellowBrickRoad album in 1973. "Bennie and the Jets" has been one of John's most popular songs and was performed during his appearance at #LiveAid. The track was a massive hit in the United States and Canada, released in 1974 as an A-side using the spelling "Bennie".

In 1981 beslist Page, na wat korte samenwerkingen met bands #TheFirm en #TheHoneydrippers, een nieuwe supergroep op te richten met leden van Yes, #XYZ, maar het project zal beperkt blijven tot demo-opnames.
Vanaf 1982 zal hij zich vooral toeleggen op soundtracks oa #DeathwishII.
In 1985 krijgt #TheFirm terug vorm en het debuut komt hetzelfde jaar uit.
Een paar projecten volgen met oa The Stones en er volgen wat reünieoptredens met The Yardbirds en Led Zeppelin leden, oa op #LiveAid.

In 1984 komt hij na behandeling in een afkickcentrum terug voor de opnames met nieuwe zanger #DavidDonato, maar hij vertrekt al terug tijdens de demo opnames.
In 1985 drumt hij even bij #EnglandsGlory om dan in 1986 zijn eigen band op te richten, #TheBillWardBand. In 1989 komt het debuut uit, en pas 8 jaar later het vervolg.

In 1987 winnen ze hun eerste grote prijs: de grammy voor #bestnewalbum met #TheJoshuaTree, er zullen nog 21 grammy's volgen, net als #BritAwards.
