That time I used to cycle everywhere for fun and not requirement. The Bristol to Bath route wasn’t that bad actually, the Bath to Melksham, er, life threatening at best

So I've been quiet insofar as any kind of personal updates here for a while, even though I've been liking and boosting. I've been experimenting with #firefish a little and while it looks like it's not quite there yet, I just read a migration guide and was truly excited to see that importing posts from several other Fedi platforms is already supported, and there are plans to import post history from Twitter. This was something that the #LiveJournal clones were doing back in the day, and I think WordPress allowed too... third is the future I want where I can take my post history wherever I go. I don't like that I can't move comments but I do understand the consent and privacy concerns with that, it is what it is... anyway, once it is implemented I hope it will work with older Twitter archives, especially now #theplatformformerlyknownastwitter has deleted quite a lot of older tweets from the platform, and will probably delete more...

The current state of #Birdsite reminds of #livejournal before the end. A series of bad business decisions leading to account after account going dark, connections scattering to different platforms, many never to be heard from again, or just going dormant as people find something else as a focus, leaving behind a weird sense of hollow loss. I still have my old lj account and occasionally post to it, but nobody ever comments any more. That is where #MadLonnie is taking the old service now.

Work hard for your employer and they will share the wealth 🙄
Wow! Linking to someone who rhymes with Flott Banselman apparently gets you noticed (looks at the 40+ notifications).
To jump off that point, #blogging is important, even if you think you don't have anything novel to say. You do, actually: because _you_ are *you*, and no one else, so your words are novel by definition.
I've abandoned stuff I put on #Facebook, exported stuff from #LiveJournal and #Twitter, and anything I make from here on out is only on my own server/domain.

An interesting one from 22 (!) years ago when I just rambled about my existence because the internet didn’t suck.

Everything changes yet remains the same
I got emailed an anniversary notice for one of my #LiveJournal accounts - 22 years. Holy jeebus.
I didn't think LJ Drama was possible anymore... but I was wrong. Someone passed away over there and their friends of 20 years are starting to learn from the surviving husband that the deceased was a complete fiction.
