Rereading the introduction to the 1969 _Systems Thinking: Selected Readings_ Penguin paperbook surfaces some choices by the editor that I hadn't previously appreciated.

Reading this recent (2022) article from Fritjof Capra:
The organization of the living:
Maturana’s key insights
included in the latest Constructivist Foundations volume 18(1): 005–011

and I am continually bewildered by the fact that no one in the field figured out yet that , although necessary, is not the sufficient condition for .

All are in fact with memory made of , , and structures participating continually in both auto- and allopoietic processes.

In fact, the recursive, processes of learning and growth depend only on (are “structurally coupled” with) the linear work processes dealing with all the things (resources, waste) in the system’s environment and producing the externally observable of the living (dynamical) system.

BIOPHYSICS + SYSTEMS. New book boils down the bio-physics of life down to four principles: (a.) self-assembly, or building instructions encoded in components themselves; (b.) regulatory circuits, or dynamics that constrain; (c.) predictable randomness, or sources of variation to put to the test given evolutionary dynamics; (d.) scaling, or size and shape dictate physical forms given forces at work.

"Ecoliteracy is the ability to understand the organization of natural systems and the processes that maintain the healthy functioning of living systems and sustain life on Earth." This is a great read via @DrDCWahl@twitter.com. buff.ly/2kXfmGq

The cheapest, most efficient & most effective is to utilise
Everything else is literally
Wasting valuable resources & money on expensive vanity projects on behalf of the industry should not be an option.
We need mass restoration of these systems instead, to form a stable, resilient ecosystem that we can hand over to our kids with pride.

I’ve been pondering the Constructal Law alongside my reading of Christopher Alexander’s _The Nature of Order_. That there doesn’t seem to be much written on the overlap of these two fields seems like a massive gap to me.
