Die einzige Hürde war Secure Boot, das war schnell disabled, und Minuten später war das System installiert & gebootet. 1. Eindruck: Uhh, das sieht arg nach Windows aus, wenngleich besser und mit funktionierendem Font-Rendering 😉
Aber die Taskleiste mit n+1 blinkendem Icon, dass mir windoofmäßig sagen will, was ich gefälligst zu tun habe, nervt. Doch ach: Der gute alte Rechtsklick lebt! Alles ließ sich so recht schnell entnerven!

Ich nutze #Mint auf verschiedenen #Lenovo Laptops. Funktioniert sehr gut.

#LMDE wäre eine Kombination aus #LinuxMint und #Debian.

I finally discovered why my #LMDE install disk wouldn't work. It turns out MSI set £'&-?( #UEFI. Why even do that on a barebones system?

@laivsalocin @itsfoss Uou can't have #LinuxMint with out #Ubuntu and #Debian. It is based on those. But I agree with you. Thenext best would be #LMDE and then just #Debian

Habe mir Heute ein Lenovo Yoga Laptop beschafft, um darauf Linux zu installieren. Das wäre dann nach 14 Jahren MacOS wieder ein Versuch mit Linux als Desktop.

Heute Abend mal mit #endeavouros gespielt. Ich bin wohl doch nicht nerdig genug... Entweder bleibe ich einfach bei #lmde oder doch nochmal #manjaro? #opensusetumbleweed bietet leider kein Cinnamon an. Sonst würde ich das auch nochmal näher betrachten...

Die Qual der Wahl ist Fluch und Segen zugleich :linuxmint: :manjaro: :opensuse:

@Ohopstad I'm glad that #Devuan is out there as an option even though I haven't personally used it.

Same with #LMDE I hope that they are useful solutions for folks.

@LordCaramac have you tried #Linux #Mint (#Cinnamon Edition)? they got some UI refresh in their Software Manager recently. the distro based on #Ubuntu (but there is also #LMDE or Linux Mint Debian Edition) and so you does have #apt as a package manager

A bug in MATE Desktop has decided for me. My new distro and desktop is #Debian with #XFCE. Things are very good. I'm still using a bunch of MATE apps like Caja (file manager), Engrampa (archiver), Atril (document viewer) but those all integrate fine. I kinda wish #LinuxMint would move to #LMDE as the main distro, Debian could do with the extra polish and settings and helper apps.

Love it on old hw.

For the last week I've been exploring Wayland and a tiling window manager (Sway) for the first time on a fresh install of Debian. I'm liking it!

Sway quickly gets you 90% towards a usable desktop. Its that 10% where you're replacing all your X11 tools that takes some experimenting!

But here on Day 6 I'm pleased with the result. This weekend I'll convert my main laptop from LMDE + Xorg + Cinnamon --> Debian + Wayland + Sway. Still lots of ❤️ for LMDE though!

And now I use LMDE btw. Didn't have much luck with vanilla Debian.
LMDE though, the distrohopping went so smooth, I'm really impressed. Maybe I'm a weirdo who wants to be a "Linux normie" and don't want to do anything manually? 🤔 😂
