1/ More on the story about #BorisJohnson having his application to install a swimming pool turned down by the #localcouncil in #south #oxfordshire . He has in the past complained bitterly in public about #planning #legislation protecting "The Great Crested Newt" in particular but does not seem to have used the rather large parliamentary majority he enjoyed in recent years to do anything about it. He would have been unlikely to have had much leverage over the #localcouncil .

In central #london there appears to be a swath of planning applications to convert the more marginal commercial real estate to mixed and/or other use. This seems a logical response and may well find favour with both the relevant #boroughs and the #mayorofLondon - since May 2022 just one #localcouncil there remains #conservative !

There was a report the weekend before last that the rise in #mortgage #InterestRates that has formed part of the disinflationary strategy of the #BankOfEngland has affected the viability of "buy to let" borrowing in a number of local authority areas - ninety two in all across #England

This is consistent with what I have heard has been happening where I live - which is that there are a lot of sales of former "buy to let" properties to the #LocalCouncil.
