It's tour day on the Wemyss foreshore!
Our tours are fully booked for today, but if you come to our visitor centre on The Haugh in East Wemyss you can visit our wee museum on the caves and other local history.
If we do have anyone who doesn't turn up for the booked tour, we will do our best to accommodate you. But we can't promise. 😔

There has also been a drone flying about the coastline at Wemyss. This is part of our annual monitoring in partnership with our friends from the SCAPE trust.
For this we ensure that survey points are visible to a drone filming data on the erosion on the site which can be directly compared year on year.

Maybe you noticed that we have had the chainsaws out at Court Cave last week?
This was a much anticipated tree surgery to improve the condition of #CourtCave. Wemyss-based tree surgeon Allan Cranston and his team have done a wonderful job to remove sycamores growing from the edges of the cave mouth and to reduce the height of the sycamores growing from the roof of the cave to reduce the weight on the rock.

Next up, fixing the walls.

For Valentine's day, we want to shine a little spotlight on the heart shaped carvings found in Well Cave.

There are a few stories as to the possible meaning behind these hearts - maybe they were declaration of affection carved into stone - but what is pecular are the ones scored out or left to fade. Are these relationships that have fallen apart?
Whatever their story is, they are a fascinating record of life and the use of the cave.
