I planted/let rot a pumpkin 6+ years ago and I've never planted pumpkins since. Idk if they survive winter or pop up from fruits I didn't find, but I let them do their thing. I do pull up runners with roots and poke them around the farm, but the most prolific vines grow near the goat barn. They climb trees and sprawl over bushes, one of the few things that give the jungle a challenge. Just this year, I've started hand pollinating, but I've had more pumpkins than I can possibly eat, every year. I sell them, give them, and eat them. I feed them to chickens and use them in many recipes. We have a hard time growing most squash in this area, but this kobocha type fruit does pretty well.
He'e (octopus)for scale. 😆
