Patrick sustained the objection and the speechifying has ended.

And another 3 hours each for statements and closing arguments they can bank it for evidence.
This will go for a long time.
Also, the #Texas Senate gallery has empty seats. This turned out not to be the hottest ticket in town.

GOP factions promise primary opponents to those who don't support Paxton in his impeachment trial.
FWIW Parker was jockeying for Speaker of the House the last time he was up for re-election.

Out of the gate, his attorneys tried to shut the trial down with a motion to dismiss. The vote was 24-6 against.
State Sen. Drew Springer voted no, but State Sen. Tan Parker vote yes.
