Was involved in a [very long] livestream chat with some of the local scene and got some ideas bouncing around. Putting them in to action is the part that requires the effort. Luckily some great guys have offered to fund it so it we have no reason not to do it.

Summer's Colour is Jim Higgs - singer in post-hardcore band A Light Between Oceans and bassist in indie band Pretty Terry - has released his debut EP under the name Summer's Colour (presumably after the Basement track). I gave this a listen at about 1am and it's fantastic. The name suits as the Basement influence is clear. When SC plays live it's an acoustic one man deal, and you can see how this could be peared back for shows.

Just been to an art exhibition of Justin Peach AKA Greater Than at Café Studios, which also featured live music from Jon Peach and Danny R & Paul Gillings. Jon was his usual raw, "Tom Waits from a seaside town" self. Short, punchy songs with a whisky-soaked, gravel voice. Dan & Paul never disappoint. Modern blues brilliance.

Nice, chilled out night. Shame I am not in a financial position go buy the Keith Haring portrait.

When I was younger, I never saw singer's with the words in front of them. Seems quite common now for bands to have tablets or phones attached to the mic stand. Not that it makes a huge difference and most just use it as a prompt but the guitarists, bassist and drummers all seem to have memorised their parts.

DSL Acoustic: Lowestoft musician and former organiser of the biggest music event in town (CARLfest) for many years, DSL, has been at the London Road Records studio putting down some tracks. Interested in hearing how this goes. A bit of negative criticism was aimed at DSL recently but instead of getting down, it seems to have lit a fire under him. I had him play a few times at my former venue after the comment and he was great each time.

One of my personal favourites from my #localscene is The Renadeans. They've been really quiet this year which is a shame. I dunno what's caused this. Their album Taking 5 is a brilliant garage rock album with some really memorable songs which get stuck in my head. The recording doesn't have the full impact of the live performances (Paul has stage presence in spades) but it's excellent nonetheless. https://tinyurl.com/564epvsv
