To the north of Loch Assynt the ground rises steeply to become Quinag, a "Y" shaped mountain that fills the area as far as the south side of Loch a Chairn Bhain, perhaps better known as the sea loch now crossed by the bridge at Kylesku. We travel 25 miles north by road to the ruins of Ardvreck Castle, standing on a promontory projecting into Loch Assynt.
