Thinking about things to keep son entertained post-op, as many folks have spoken about how boredom was the worst once the initial bit of healing was done.

Had the idea this AM of putting together a lockpicking kit. I am into locksport myself, but have never taught him.

It's a fun, fiddly kind of thing to do which doesn't take a lot of movement (less pressure is usually better!)

Think I'll grab some 1100s and progressively pin them, and then do spool and spiral ones.

I tried top of keyway tensioning with the y shaped tool but I’m not having luck feeling anything moving when I use top of keyway. With bottom of the keyway it’s harder to move around for sure, but I can much more easily feel things moving. Also received a new set of lockpicks from #banggood — these lockpicks are thinner than the cheap set from Amazon, so that’s good.

Lock #2 — cheap 4 pin MasterLock from target “pin tumbler cylinder for increased pick resistance” — not sure what that means but the lock was still fairly easy to open. I had to pick pin 3 before others would bind, pin 3 was also the hardest to reach (it had the deepest bitting). I’m using bottom of the keyway tension so that probably didn’t help.
