Rereading 's Chalion books for the umpteenth time, and honestly, they've done more to reconcile me to the idea of religion as a "good" thing (for some) than any scripture I've ever read. Including nuggets like these, which you pass over zillions of times, but which hit you right between the eyes when you have the life experience to understand them. The acceptance part, too, maybe someday.

J'ai entamé il y a quelques temps la saga
de l'autrice Étatunienne Lois McMaster Bujold.

Il s'agit de
Le premier "Falling Free" / "Opération Cay" / "Chute libre" m'avait déconcerté du fait que le héros désigné, Vokosigan, n'y apparaît pas.
Mais j'avais apprécié la critique d'un système gestionnaire où les humains peuvent être réduits à une ligne sur un livre de compte.

In response to your fairly good point about not a ton of female authors, I went back and looked at my kindle for the 5 most recent female authors I've read (discounting one offs I didn't enjoy).





Considering I had to go back to April to get 5, I think my reading lists have been too male-dominated recently! Will be looking through the others listed.

This has been the year of finally reading gigantic series/authors I'd ignored for years and then realizing what a terrible decision that was. Now I'm delightfully drowning in CJ Cherryh's /Foreigner/ and Steven Brust's /Vlad Taltos/ amid a Vorkosigan Saga reread, and it's overwhelming but pretty dang fun! @bookstodon

I do still read all of the Miles books by , but her fantasy is not my thing so I don’t read all of her work. (I have a very narrow interest in fantasy, and from what I’ve read hers is diametrically opposed to that.)

2023 Book 2: Shards of Honor by Lois McMaster Bujold (f 11/1). Decided to re-read this as its sequel Barrayar (which starts just a few days after this book ends) is on my Hugo/ Nebula reading list. I felt that it had greater depth and resonance than when I first read it, but I can’t say whether that’s because I’m looking back after reading the whole series, or because I’m older than I was when I first read it (at least 15 years ago, if not more 😯)

As many times as I've listened to the saga, the last line of Cryoburn (not the aftermaths) still brings a literal tear to my eye. I very much appreciate Gentlemen Jole and the Red Queen so it all doesn't end on that note.

As much as I enjoy Miles' story and eventually that of his wife Ekaterin, Cordelia is my favorite character. The bookends of her and Aral and of her and Jole are all done and leave her a whole and strong woman.
