Lollobrigida was famed for her biting wit and sensual beauty.

Best known for Luigi Comencini's 1953 classic Bread, Love and Dreams, and Jean Delannoy's 1956 The Hunchback of Notre Dame, Lollobrigida starred with many of the leading men of the time, including Errol Flynn, Burt Lancaster and Humphrey Bogart.

Someday in the 80s, during the Berlin film festival, I was having a bite in the slightly snobbish Paris Bar. Only two tables away Gina #Lollobrigida was having dinner, also on her own. Though I am hardly ever starstruck, this time I was quite paralyzed, just capable of watching every graceful move she made. As jury president she strongly resisted to the Golden Bear for #Stammheim. But I don’t think she minded my very #malegaze . Requiescat in pace!
