I lay here and watch the show
In fatigue, pain that ever flows

I can't find a safe way
to exist in society, to live and be
among folks who deny
the very illness who binds

Wheeling myself, I follow my cat
the walls confine our trek
wherever he sat, I pet and ponder
my life before this illness
I rallied, I protested,
I worked, I played,
I spoke poetry, I laughed,
I hung and sung, and was among
others beyond these four walls.

The world moves on and on,
More die and cry and try to survive,
but the illness eats us up,
burns through all of us,
shadows of our former lives
we barely survive,
while the world denies,
the world normalizes endless death,
endless lies, endless pain,
we're like a human stain,
no amount of washing
nor endless scrubbing
is ever gonna erase us
we keep on raising a fuss.

NOTE: this is the first take on possible lyrics. I may adjust the lyrics as I try to map it to possible melodies. I'll likely shift from E minor key to maybe A or B minor and then back to E minor. Now if only I had the energy and a working desktop to write the tune to go with this... I'll keep on trying I guess.
