He created the original #london #boroughs in response to the progressive-controlled #london #county #council - ironically the progressives lost control of the latter early in the 1900s and never got it back. Similarly she built up the inner london boroughs in the 1980s - ironically all but one of these have since rejected the #conservatives - even #wandsworth and #westminster !
