#OTD in 1860, Thomas Cochrane, 10th Earl of Dundonald was buried in Westminster Abbey. Among the pall-bearers were Admiral Sir George Seymour, Admiral Grenfell and the Brazilian Minister.

#Sunday morning, time to #introduce myself a wee bit further and talk about one thing I'm very #passionate about: #books about Cochrane .
Some time ago I was very fortunate to buy a 1861 edition of his 'AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A SEAMAN' which is considered a classic of #naval #literature . The book is in fine condition and one of my most prized possessions.
Why I (a German) am so passionate about #LordThomasCochrane ? It's a story I will tell another time.
(Some might now consider to unfollow me 🙈 😂).

Some Cochrane trivia:
The concept of the #SimpleYetPerfect teapot was first patented by Lieutenant General Mackinnon Baillie Hamilton Cochrane (grandson of #LordThomasCochrane) in 1901. Inside, a horizontal perforated ledge separates the #tea from the hot water. When the tea is brewed, the #teapot is set down again onto the base and the tea is ready to be poured through the conventional spout. The separation of the used tea leaves from the prepared tea prevents it from becoming 'stewed'.

OTD in 1846 #LordThomasCochrane was promoted to Vice Admiral of the White. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿⚓️
