Seit T-Mobile #StreamOn abschaffen musste und mein temporäres #Unlimited5G abgelaufen ist, bin ich immer wieder überrascht, was #AppleMusic bei mir so an #Datenvolumen frisst! 10GB in einer knappen Woche bei ca. 20h #Streaming aus dem Auto raus, ist schon heftig. Und ich hatte „nur“ 256kbit/s als Qualität eingestellt – nicht #LossLess. Ich werde das mal testweise weiter runter regeln.

I am finally quitting using #Windows on my main machine, the motherfucker totally corrupted my #btrfs data partition while trying to install #GTAV and #lossless albums onto it. The part started "locking" itself down, started to get cheskum errors and now im about to lose about 100gb on music, roms and games because of corporate garbage. This could be also a #usererror that could've been prevented if windows made things easier for alternative #filesystems but they want market for themselves.

@PackardMoose @Zolees It's really not that much more per play than #Spotify in the grand scheme of things. You still have to somehow get to thousands of plays per month to even break even with publication fees from services like #DistroKid. #Lossless is definitely a great reason to go with #AppleMusic, but the payment schedule is still overall a bust. Buying direct from artist on #Bandcamp on #BandcampFriday is a much better way to put money in an artist's pocket for their music.

Today, I have been enjoying listening to #lossless #highres Music (#FLAC files) under #Linux with #Strawberry Music Player. I connected my Laptop via USB to my external DAC and it works out of the box under Linux as an Audio output. Highress Highres Music must not be proprietary MQA.

A weird #AppleMusic tip:

If you play #lossless audio on macOS and your #MiniPlayer window stopped displaying the current song title/artist (always shows play controls, which should only display when the pointer is hovering), go to Music > Settings > Playback, turn lossless audio off and back on, and the song display comes back.

I’m not sure how long the fix will last. I figured this out just now, after it’d been this way for months across OS updates and reboots.

I posted earlier about playing #Hi-Res #Lossless tracks in #AppleMusic on my #MacBook and the #LosslessSwitcher app available on #GitHub to make this as simple an experience as possible. I was questioned about my audio interface - I use the #PreSonus #1810c audio interface. It has standard support for 44.1, 48, 88.2, 96, 176.4, 192 kHz sample rates at both 16-bit and 24-bit. This is a wonderful interface if you want to record in Hi-Res too.

I have to give a shout-out to Vincent Neo for the Lossless Switcher available for free and open source. This little app automatically adjusts the audio device's sample rate to match the sample rate of the currently playing song.

I don;t know why #Apple haven't just got this feature as a standard part of their OS, however this is wonderful when playing a playlist in Apple Music and the tracks switch between different lossless resolutions.

The screenshot I've attached shows a Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young album playing in 24-bit/192kHz. Immediately before this I had on Frogstomp by Silverchair which was served in 16-bit/44.1kHz. I didn't lift a finger however both were rendered correctly.
